The Bard Team




Course Director Ellen O’Malley-Dunlop is a Folklorist, Psychotherapist and Group Analyst. She is a former Chieftain of the O’Malley Clan and works with the Grainuaile Trust which helps to restore and preserve O’Malley heritage. Ellen is CEO of the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre. She has four children and two grandchildren.


Course Director
Sandy Dunlop is a Business Management consultant and author; specialising in Brand Personality, Innovation and the Management of Change. His company, Alexander Dunlop Ltd. uses myth, ritual and story-telling with many of the world’s largest multinational companies, as a way of managing complexity and transition. He is author of 'The Golfing Bodymind' and 'Business Heroes'.

Máirín has been a member of the Bard team since its inception. Originally from Connamara, Dr. Máirín Ní Nualláin, M.D. is a Psychiatrist, Jungian Analyst and Group Analyst. She now lives and practices in Galway. She is a native Irish speaker and she has a deep knowledge and understanding of the ancient Irish myths.


Karina Tynan is a Psychotherapist and Poet. She has been working on the Bard team since 1998. She runs a private psychotherapy practice in South County Dublin and has a keen interest in all aspects of Creative Writing. Karina is a qualified facilitator and will work with the groups during the Bard week.



Aoife Diamond is currently working on her PhD in Sociology in University College Dublin. She has been working on the Bard Team since 1997 and has a keen interest in the Irish myths and legends. Aoife conducts research which enriches the content of the week.



Having graduated with a Masters in Sociology from University College Dublin, Elena Keany worked as broadcast journalist for RTE, Ireland’s national television and broadcasting organisation. She is currently working for Dublin Institute of Technology Ireland's largest third level education institution. Elena has been a member of the Bard team since 1997 and manages all Administration for the Summer School and Festival. She is also a qualified facilitator who will work with participants during the school.



Bill Felton acts as Artistic Director for the Bard. Bill is responsible for producing all the beautiful images which feature on this website and of course designs the annual poster for the Bard. These limited edition posters have now become a collectors item.
